JASMYN GRAHAM: South BOULEVARD Site Director

JASMYN@urbanpromisecharlotte.org

Jasmyn was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. Her earliest memories in church and extracurriculars are where she recalls developing her love for family and people. She attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she studied Spanish and studied abroad in Spain. During her time in Spain, Jasmyn learned several valuable lessons that have stayed with her throughout life and helped ground her as the leader she is today. She cherishes her time in Spain as the place where she learned the importance of appreciating living life, caring for others holistically, and cultivating a life of purpose.

At the start of her professional career, she accepted a teaching position in Charlotte, NC at an IB elementary school. During the first five years of her teaching career, Jasmyn fell in love with the relationships she built with students and families and eventually accepted a leadership position as the Bilingual Family School Advocate. She served as a bridge between the school, families, and community/district resources and services. Jasmyn served her school and the families attached to her with care and compassion yet she ultimately felt a call that led her outside of the school setting which is when she became acquainted with UrbanPromise Charlotte.

Since starting her journey with UrbanPromise, Jasmyn explains what seems to be a full circle moment as is reminded of the life lessons she learned over the years. Her passion and goals as the Site Director of Camp Joy in Charlotte’s South Boulevard community, are to continue building strong healthy relationships with her community as well as lead her students, StreetLeaders, and fellow staff in a way that encourages them to also appreciate living life, learn to care for others holistically, and cultivate a life of purpose.
