Lifelong Learner. Lover of Words. Student Educational Advocate.

Dr. Imani Abraham is a scholar, educator, and instructional leader who serves as Literacy Manager at UrbanPromise Charlotte. She earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University before completing her doctorate at Liberty University. Her teaching career has spanned elementary and middle school classrooms in Baltimore, Charlotte, and Indianapolis, where she transitioned into instructional coaching before stepping into her current role. It was early in her teaching career — on the west side of Charlotte — that she first witnessed students discovering their own creativity and passions through reading, and that moment shaped everything that followed.

A Greensboro native and former collegiate track and field athlete, Dr. Abraham brings the same discipline and drive to her work in literacy that she once brought to the track. Outside of UrbanPromise, she stays active through working out, stays connected through visits with family and friends, and stays inspired by reading her favorite books.

"I found my true passion of promoting the love of reading to students, while I was a novice teacher on the west side of Charlotte. This is where I first noticed the students discovering their own creativity and passions while they were engaged in reading new stories and information.”
