UrbanPromise Charlotte is committed to providing equal employment to all qualified individuals without regard to race, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or sexuality. Underscoring this policy is the concern for our employees’ dignity and well-being and our commitment to providing a safe, productive, and professional work environment.

ACADEMIC COORDINATOR

The primary role of UrbanPromise’s Academic Coordinator will be to provide focused academic support and accountability to approximately 40 high school StreetLeaders (9th-12th graders) at UrbanPromise’s neighborhood site in East Charlotte. The Academic Coordinator partners closely with the StreetLeader Director who is responsible for the holistic development of the StreetLeaders. The Academic Coordinator position is ideal for individuals passionate about motivating and equipping high school students with the skills necessary for academic achievement, life management, spiritual growth, and Christian leadership, with a heavy emphasis on academic achievement in this particular role.

Primary responsibilities of the Academic Coordinator will include: coaching StreetLeaders towards academic achievement goals; leading academic success workshops study halls to optimize academic achievement for StreetLeaders; and leading ACT/SAT prep classes and exploring tutoring options and programs.

Interested candidates are encouraged to apply as quickly as possible and no later than Friday, July 25th. Read the full description and instructions for applying in the link below.

COUNSELOR / SOCIAL WORKER

The primary role of UrbanPromise’s Counselor/Social Worker will be to provide trauma-informed individual counseling to teenage StreetLeaders across UrbanPromise’s four neighborhood sites. Additionally, the Counselor/Social Worker will lead the UrbanPromise team in responding to students’ behavioral health and/or social service emergencies and serve as a case manager connecting UrbanPromise students and families to community resources. Finally, the Counselor/Social Worker will act as the organizational expert in trauma-informed care and practices.

For the past eight years, UrbanPromise Charlotte has provided individual counseling and crisis support to StreetLeaders through partnership with a counseling agency. During this time, the UrbanPromise community has grown significantly, as have the mental health needs of our students. Thus, the hiring of a full-time Counselor/Social Worker is a significant and exciting step towards deepening the mental health support UrbanPromise provides our students and families.

As UrbanPromise’s first full-time, internal Counselor/Social Worker, the ideal candidate must have an entrepreneurial spirit, excel as a relationship builder and communicator, have the ability to both cast vision for the importance of mental health counseling and lead one-on-one counseling sessions. Ultimately, the Counselor/Social Worker must be driven by the long-term vision of UrbanPromise — that our students and StreetLeaders become Christ-like leaders determined to restore Charlotte — and believe trauma-informed counseling and practices are a key piece of helping our students become healthy leaders now and in the future.

Interested candidates are encouraged to apply as quickly as possible. Read the full description and instructions for applying in the link below.
