Isabel is a dedicated educator and community advocate who serves as the Site Director at Camp HOPE. She earned her degree in English Philology from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia before moving to the United States in 2009 to serve as a Spanish teacher for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. With an additional certification in English as a Second Language (ESL), Isabel has spent her career serving as a bridge between immigrant students, their families, and school administration, helping them adapt to and thrive in a new culture.
Born and raised in Colombia, Isabel’s own experience as an immigrant fuels her passion for sharing her heritage and culture with others. Isabel cites her mother as the inspiration for her Christ-centered approach to life and her ability to adapt to new situations. When she isn’t at UrbanPromise, Isabel is a self-proclaimed foodie who loves trying new restaurants with her husband and friends, playing beach or grass volleyball, and traveling during her time off.

“I love seeing our campers grow and become agents of restoration as some of them become StreetLeaders or simply as they grow personally and individually. seeing our StreetLeaders to gain confidence and get the tools they need to take ownership of their decisions is something that motivates me to continue doing the work we do at UP.”
