Jazmin is the StreetLeader Director at Camp Joy. A first-generation student, Jazmin graduated from NC Central University with a B.A. and M.A. in Psychology before being named a 2024 LatinxEd Fellow. Prior to her time at UrbanPromise, she was a classroom Instructional Assistant and regional leader at Lambda Pi Chi Sorority. Motivated by the mentors who helped her find her own voice as a first generation student, she now finds purpose in helping others discover their own ability to think critically, achieve academically and follow their dreams.

She joined the UrbanPromise team because it allows her to combine many of her passions - communication, mentorship, and education equality.  When she isn’t supporting StreetLeaders, you’ll find Jazmin exploring Charlotte restaurants or planning her next travel adventure.

“I’ve seen firsthand how transformative education can be—not just in terms of my career, but in building confidence and agency. My passion for increasing access to higher education grew as I was a first-generation student.. It became clear to me that the barriers are often systemic, and I wanted to be part of tearing those barriers down.”
