Krystal is a dedicated literacy professional focused on helping kids discover a genuine love of learning. A graduate of Old Dominion University, she was a Founding Lead Teacher at KIPP Change Academy, where she was later named Teacher of the Year. She brings practical classroom experience to her role as Literacy Director at UrbanPromise. Krystal has spent her career as a reading interventionist and teacher coach, focusing on the specialized needs of Title I schools. At UrbanPromise, she oversees literacy across all four sites, ensuring every camper has the tools they need to thrive academically in school.
Originally from Morristown, NJ, Krystal is a self-proclaimed "lover of words" who remains close to her parents and sister. She actively serves at her church and loves spending time with friends and family.
