Summer INTERNSHIP
UrbanPromise’s Summer Internship program provides college-aged adults with summertime training in urban youth development and ministry. Their role at UrbanPromise is essential to our organization’s operational and programmatic success as they act as positive role models to the children and teens in our summer camps.
Our Summer Internship lasts eight weeks during the summer months. During these weeks, Summer Interns work alongside UrbanPromise Staff and high school StreetLeaders to lead a high energy, fun-filled Summer Camp for children.
Summer Intern responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Coach and Empower StreetLeaders: Work directly with a group of approximately 5-10 StreetLeaders to help provide a tailored coaching experience that helps StreetLeaders improve their leadership abilities and grow in UrbanPromise core values. Assist StreetLeaders in designing and implementing daily lesson plans in their classes (Discovery, Bible, and Options classes).
Build StreetLeaders’ Leadership: Help develop and maintain a culture in the StreetLeader group where all StreetLeaders feel included, valued, and developed, so that they make a difference in the lives of campers and in their own lives.
Serve as Camp Leaders and UrbanPromise Ambassadors: Assist in day-to-day operations of summer camp alongside UrbanPromise staff. Help Camp Directors maintain reward and discipline systems and ensure camper safety. Assist in leading StreetLeader training sessions before and during Summer Camp. Serve as UrbanPromise Ambassadors by welcoming visitors and sharing about UrbanPromise’s impact on campers, StreetLeaders, and themselves.
